Eligibility Criteria for the King’s Commonwealth PhD Fellowship Program 2025:

  • Applicants must have a citizenship or refugee status in any of the eligible Commonwealth SIDS.
  • Applicants with a Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Applicants must be due to commence or have already enrolled in any PhD degree program at an ACU SIDS member university (check the list here) in the 2025/26 academic year with an aim to complete it.
  • The PhD subject area must fall within one of the eligible 4 KCFP research areas (Education, Climate change/environment, Engineering, and Health).

Benefits of King’s Commonwealth PhD Fellowship Program 2025:

  • The PhD fellowship will provide support of GBP 30,000 over 6 years (GBP 5,000 per year) to support their research and visits to partner universities.
  • Furthermore, they will also get a research support grant of GBP 12,000 (GBP 2,000 per year).
  • A 20% salary contribution.
  • Completing their PhD and research under the dedicated joint PhD supervisors from the partner university.
  • Access to resources such as the library or data of the partner university, if required.
  • Access to ‘King’s Fellows cohort’ as a member to get training support to continue professional development. They will also learn relevant skills, such as communication, entrepreneurship, engaging with policymakers, public speaking, and applying for other research funding.
